As a Data Engineer in Zalando's Curated Sales Data team you design, develop, and operate data pipelines that form the single source of truth for information regarding Zalando's fundamental business process - Sales Orders and their lifecycle (Sales, Cancellation, Return, Refund) including the Key Performance Indicators for Zalando (Revenue, Profitability). Thousands of users and applications across the company rely on this data for business analytics and machine learning. WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
- Designing, developing, monitoring, and operating data integration pipelines processing hundreds of millions of records to provide high-quality datasets for analytical and machine learning use-cases
- Leveraging and improving a cloud-based (AWS) tech stack that includes Databricks, Kubernetes, Spark, Airflow, Python, and Scala
- Consulting with analysts, data scientists, and product managers to build and continuously improve "Single Source of Truth" data products that create value for their users
- Be a sparring partner to other team members and provide support and guidance to other engineers to help develop their technical capabilities
- You will be part of a community of 150+ Data Engineers across the company that is constantly improving the data landscape at Zalando
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
- Strong programming skills in Scala, Java, or any other JVM language
- Proficient knowledge in working with Apache Spark, and a good understanding of relational database systems. Knowledge of additional Big Data technologies like Presto, Kafka or other streaming applications is a plus
- Experience doing data analysis with SQL and experience in Python is a plus. Experience in data warehousing and data modeling is a plus
- Knowledge of workflow management tools such as Airflow and hands-on experience in cloud technologies (AWS preferred), container/orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience in all the steps of the software process, including requirement gathering, designing, testing, continuous integration/continuous delivery, automated deployment and monitoring
